With almost 3.870.000 km2s it represents 45.27% of the Brazilian territory, formed by 7 states: Acre, Amapá, Amazon, For, Rondônia, Roraima and Tocantins. It is located between the bulk of the Guianas, to the north; the Central Planalto, to the south; the Mountain range of the $andes, to the west; and the Atlantic Ocean, to the northwest. With equatorial climate, it is bathed by the great rivers of the river basins Amazonian and the Tocantins.
The North region has next to 8 million inhabitants. Its demographic densidad is lowest among all the geographic regions, with 2.92 inhabitants by km2. Most of the population of the North region (57.8%) is urban, being Bethlehem, State Capital of For, its greater metropolis.
