The Organization of the United Nations for the Education, Science and the Culture (UNESCO) is a specialized organism of the United Nations and del that depends the Organization on the Cities of Patrimonio Mundial (OCPM). In 1972 UNESCO approved a plan of protection of the cultural goods of the world, through the “Convention on the Protection of the Cultural and Natural Patrimony�, since I consider myself that it had of having very special and unique places in the world that had of being preserved, taking care of his historical, esthetic, artistic, archaeological, ethnological or anthropological values. Being able to be also true natural patrimonies, with peculiar formation physical, biological and geologic exceptional, these places are called Patrimonies of the Humanity.

The Convention entered 1975 with the adhesion of twenty nations in force, and in the following year it was not until which the Committee of the World-wide Patrimony was created, constituted by representing technicians of the countries that adhered. Brazil adhered to the Convention in 1977.
In Latin America and the Caribbean 37 Places exist Patrimony of the Humanity of which 17 are in Brazil.
